Meet the President - John C. Hitt, Ph.D.

 

Personal History

  • Native of Houston, TX                                                                            
  • Graduated cum laude from Austin College
  • Earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physiological psychology from
    Tulane University
  • Has held academic, administrative, or executive positions at Tulane University, Texas Christian University, Bradley University, and the University of Maine
  • Married to Martha Hitt and has two children and two grandchildren
  • Became the fourth president of the University of Central Florida
    on March 1, 1992.

Recent Awards and Achievements

 

  • Received the 2008 Junior Achievement
    Spirit of Achievement Award
  • Consistently l isted among the Orlando Sentinel's 25 Most Powerful People in Central Florida and Orlando Magazine's 50 Most Powerful People
  • Received the Seminole County Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007
  • Received the Orlando Business Journal's
    first-ever Legacy Award in 2006
  • Named the Orlando Sentinel's Central Floridian of the Year in 2005
