Welcome to the Rally for Respect! It’s great to be with all of you.
Thanks to our Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Student Development and Enrollment Services for bringing us together for this important rally. At UCF, diversity thrives. And I am pleased we have a student body and a talented faculty and staff that increasingly reflects the demographics of our dynamic community and our world.
UCF stands for opportunity, for students, faculty members, and staff members of all social and economic backgrounds.
Our diversity helps to make UCF a special place to study and work. For instance, our university community includes
And speaking of students with intellectual disabilities, we are pleased to welcome to our Knights family this fall six students who are part of an admissions initiative that we intend to grow into a national model.
At UCF, diversity thrives. And I am pleased we have a student body and a talented faculty and staff that increasingly reflects the demographics of our dynamic community and our world.
Yet, if we cannot get along, or if we cannot work together for the greater good, then we diminish our potential and effectiveness. Being diverse and inclusive makes UCF a better place for everyone.
To be more inclusive and diverse is one of the key goals that I established at UCF in 1992, and that goal continues to guide us today. But sustained progress takes dedication and focus by all of us.
That’s why I am so delighted with this rally. If we all do our part to focus on inclusivity and the consideration and respect for others here at UCF, we can all be our better selves, together.
Thank you, Go Knights and … charge on!
The State University System of Florida has authorized all state universities, including UCF, to charge a Repeat Course Surcharge of $181.12 per student credit hour for each undergraduate course in which a student has enrolled in the same course more than twice. Currently, this surcharge is $177.57 per credit hour. The proposed increase is $3.55 per credit hour. The change will take effect for the Fall 2017 semester. This increase is mandated by state law, which states that “A student enrolled in the same undergraduate college-credit course more than twice shall pay tuition at 100 percent of the full cost of instruction . . . .” UCF will use the increased fee to cover costs of instruction.
